The agent of Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has spoken out on the player’s future following speculation that the Uruguayan is keen on leaving the club.
Reports earlier this week suggested that the 23-year-old had asked the Gunners to listen to offers for him, but Raffaele Bentancur has said that the London club are not keen on selling, despite his client currently being unhappy with his role:
“Anything is possible in football. Torreira is happy at Arsenal, although the change in role has not made him happy. It must be said that this year the whole team is not doing well. But I believe Arsenal wants to keep him.”
Supporters on Twitter believe Arsenal manager Unai Emery’s decision to move Torreira into a more advanced midfield position is the main reason behind the player becoming unsettled:

That way most of the players are not happy with their positions being changed constantly but that doesn’t mean the whole lot start dictating via their agents

Can’t believe we have a coach that believes in playing him as a 10 when everyone knows his preferred position is sitting in front of the defence.

Play him as a DM ffs!

Torreira is likely to get a lot more game time in his favoured role over the coming weeks and months, following Emery’s decision to strip Granit Xhaka of the captaincy.
The Swiss international has not played for the Gunners since the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace last month but he did play for Switzerland in their Euro 2020 qualifier versus Georgia last night.
