Eighteen Year Old Winger Replacing Walcott

Unfortunately for Wenger, he will not be able to use Walcott for the next three weeks. The English international sustained an abdominal injury which according to Metro, is going to necessitate almost a month of rest. Arsenal’s player will have to undergo minor surgery in order to fix the damage suffered to his posterior abdominal wall. The procedure will take place in Germany on Wednesday and will keep the Gunner off pitch until the World qualifiers are over which is somewhere around the middle of next month.

It seems that youngster, Serge Gnabry is the one to replace Walcott. He already went in as a member of the first eleven against Stoke. He was replaced by Miyaichi in the 73rd minute but he managed a solid performance up until that moment. He was ambitious and created some great opportunities for his team. He was not as decisive as Walcott but he was more effective when it came to defensive runs. He also got the call on Wednesday night in the 4-3 win on penalties (1-1 after extra time) with West Brom in the Capital One Cup and turned in a good performance, as he put Bendtner through on goal in extra time only for the Dane to miss the excellent chance.

Gnabry, who has been playing for the Germany’s youth teams since 2010 is going to face a tough couple of weeks as Arsenal have to face Swansea in just three days. The biggest challenge for the Gunners will be the home game against Napoli. The Italian side has shown great form and are in direct competition with Arsenal for a spot in the next stages of the Champions League.

Gnabry received some excellent feedback from Wenger after the match against Stoke. His perseverance and the fact that he can easily adapt to any type of situation were two of the main things the Frenchman mentioned after the game. He also underlined the fact that the 18 year old German international started off a bit shy but managed to get over those emotions very quickly.

Hopefully Gnabry will have to step up his game a bit considering the importance a match such as the one against Napoli carries. Fortunately for him is the fact that Arsenal will be playing at home so he should be pretty comfortable on the pitch. An away match against the Italian side would have been a bit much considering how fanatical Napoli’s supporters are.
