Edu Tries To Hijack Real Madrid’s Move For £25m Rated Brazilian Teenage Sensation

Arsenal are set to do battle with Real Madrid for Flamengo attacking midfielder Reinier Jesus, according to reports in the Spanish media. The Gunners’ technical director Edu is a big fan of the Brazilian teenager and is keen to bring him to the Emirates.

However, Real have already made the first move to secure the 17-year-old’s services, having reportedly tabled a bid of €25m (£21m), but it falls short of the playmaker’s €30m (£25m) release clause.

Barcelona were also interested in Reinier but have opted against a move because of the midfielder’s asking price, leaving Arsenal as the only potential rivals to Real.

Edu has already used his contacts in Brazil to secure the signing of Gabriel Martinelli, but Real also have strong connections in the country, having signed youngsters Vinicius Jnr and Rodrygo in recent years.

Reinier would, though, likely get more first-team football if he moved to England. Real are said to be looking to either loan back the Brazilian to Flamengo or look to use him in their B team.
