Arsenal are interested in signing Sao Paulo forward Brenner, according to Calciomercato.it. The Italian website says that the Gunners, along with five other clubs, are tracking the 20-year-old’s progress.

Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Lazio, AC Milan and Ajax are believed to be Arsenal’s main rivals for the Brazilian’s signature, who has scored 15 goals in 25 games this season.

Brenner does, though, have a €50m (£45m) release clause but with the global health crisis having a major impact on club finances, Calciomercato.it report that the striker could well be sold for a lower amount when the transfer window reopens in January.

At the moment, there is no favourite among the six clubs to sign the player but the Gunners’ technical director Edu could well be able to use his connections in the country to make a deal happen.

Gabriel Martinelli’s arrival from Ituano eighteen months ago, as well as the signing of Pablo Mari from Flamengo last January, were both as a result of Edu’s contacts in his homeland.
