14 Goal Serie A Poacher Admits He Is An ‘Arsenal Fan’ And Reveals His Ambition Is To Play In The Premier League

Atalanta forward Duvan Zapata has revealed he was an Arsenal supporter growing up in Colombia.

The 30-year-old says he got up specifically to watch the Gunners in action and he is still hopeful that a move to England could happen in the future:

“When I was a kid I was always watching the Premier League. I was an Arsenal fan! I got up early every weekend to watch their games. I was in love with Thierry Henry’s Arsenal. In Colombia, we love the Premier League. Who knows, one day I could play there.”

Zapata is a prolific goalscorer, having scored 14 in 38 appearances for Atalanta this season, and he has been linked with both Chelsea and West Ham over the past year.

However, with the Colombian international now the wrong side of 30, it is unlikely that Arsenal would even consider making a bid for the striker.

Alexandre Lacazette is still only 29, and while the Frenchman has been tipped to leave the Emirates in the summer, with just one year remaining on his contract, it isn’t likely that manager Mikel Arteta would consider replacing him with someone like Zapata, who only has a few years left at the top of his game.
