Dusan Vlahovic Speaks Out Amid Claims That Arsenal Have Tabled Offer Worth 58.5M

Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic says he is focused on performing well for his current club, as the Viola look to push on during the second half of the season.

The Serie A side currently sit seventh in the table, just six points off the top four, and Vlahovic is hoping they can sustain their run and finish in the European places:

“I have stated this several times so far. A beautiful football story is being made here in Florence. We have a good team, great football players, great support from the fans. It all deserves respect. Only God knows what will happen in the next period. My wish is to bring Fiorentina to Europe, because we have not been in Europe for a long time. I don’t know what can happen overnight. We’ll see.”

Vlahovic’s comments do not suggest that he is prepared to leave Fiorentina during the January transfer window, and that may come as a blow to Arsenal, amid claims in Italy that they have tabled a new proposal for the forward.

It has been reported that the Gunners are willing to pay €55m (£46m) upfront for the Serbian international whilst also allowing Lucas Torreira to move to Fiorentina on a permanent basis.

The Uruguayan has been on loan in Florence since the start of the season, but there is an option to buy for €15m (£12.5m). If Vlahovic were to agree a move to the Emirates, Fiorentina wouldn’t be expected to pay the fee for Torreira, effectively making the deal for the striker worth around €70m (£58.5m).

Other clubs, such as Chelsea, Manchester City and Juventus, have also been linked with Vlahovic and, if the striker is not interested in a January switch to the Gunners, they may switch their focus to other targets.
