Djourou Ready To Leave Arsenal For Good

Arsenal’s Ivorian born Switzerland international has spent his entire career under contract with Arsenal. Djourou made his way to the Gunners’ 1st team in 2004 but has made only 86 appearances for the club since then. The 27 year old defender who was sent on loan on three different occasions seems to have finally found his place.

According to the Daily Express, Djourou is now happy playing for Hamburg where he apparently wants to continue his career.  Since signing a loan deal with the German side in the summer of 2013, he has featured in 14 games.

Djourou who started out as a midfielder seems keen on leaving Arsenal for good after he failed to make himself noticed by Wenger. He always struggled and was never the Frenchman’s first choice regardless of his versatility on the pitch.

Despite not actually saying he plans on leaving the UK, the 27 year old offered some strong hints towards the fact that he is a lot happier in Germany than he was while performing for Arsenal. Djourou left the Premier League in January 2013 to join Hanover for whom he managed 14 appearances.

The Switzerland international will probably receive Wenger’s approval to make the move to Hamburger SV a permanent one. He is currently valued at £2.6 million and is still under contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2015. Not letting him leave could cause the Gunners to lose the transfer fee given the fact that Djourou is a lot happier in Germany and that it is very unlikely he will sign a new deal with the Emirates side.
