Dixon Questions Arsenal’s Chances Of Making Top Four This Season

Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon has questioned the club’s chances of making the top four this season.

The former right-back turned TV pundit, says that it may take a number of transfer windows and a change in attitude among the players before they can compete again at the top end of the table:

“It’s looking very difficult at the moment with the top four, so I think there’s got to be a lot of improvement, not only with different personnel over the next couple of years but a different change in mentality that gets them a little bit more consistent without the ball.”

Defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea have been followed by wins against both West Ham and Cardiff City, leaving them six points off table-toppers Liverpool after just four games.

However, Unai Emery’s side now have a period of games without facing any of the other ‘top six’ clubs. Until they come up against Liverpool in early November, they will play Newcastle, Everton, Watford, Fulham, Leicester City and Crystal Palace; all matches they would see as winnable.

The Gunners have already conceded eight goals in their first four league games so they will certainly have to shore up at the back to make the most of this run of fixtures.
