Di Marzio Names 35M Rated Star As Arsenal’s “Top Target” With Player Being Lined Up To Replace Xhaka

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves is now Arsenal’s “top target” according to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The reliable Italian reporter believes that the Portuguese international is being lined up as a replacement for Granit Xhaka, who has “an agreement” to join Roma.

Di Marzio claims Mikel Arteta’s side won’t allow the Swiss international to leave unless they bring someone in first, and they have identified Neves as the man they want.

Numerous reports in the English press have suggested that the 24-year-old has a £35m asking price, so it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will meet Wolves’ demands or try to negotiate down the fee.

The Gunners have been linked with other midfielders. Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli’s name has been mentioned regularly over the past week but the Italian international is keen on joining Juventus.

Houssem Aouar is said to be another option, although it isn’t clear at this stage whether the Frenchman could be signed as an alternative or in addition to Neves.
