“Deal Was Never Done…” Romano Confirms Arsenal’s Move To Sign 13M Rated La Liga Starlet Has Collapsed

Arsenal have failed in an attempt to sign Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Both the Gunners and Borussia Dortmund are believed to have held talks over a €15m (£13m) transfer, but Romano claims the defender will now stay in Spain until the end of the season:

It was claimed that a move for Fresneda was dependent on Cedric Soares leaving the Emirates. The Portuguese international is still at the London club and it could be the case that the delay in his departure to Fulham may have caused some problems.

However, Real Valladolid’s sporting director Fran Sanchez did say last week that no club had made an official bid for Fresneda so it could be the case that talks were not as advanced with Arsenal as Romano and others reported.

The teenager does have plenty of other admirers, including Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle, Leeds, Brentford, Fulham, Southampton and Wolves, so the Gunners may have a lot of competition for his signature if they return with an offer next summer.
