David Seaman Urges Arsenal To Table Bid For “Quality Player” Who Has Been Made Available For £45M

Arsenal legend David Seaman says his former club should consider making an offer for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

The Portuguese international has just a year left on his contract at Molineux but it has been claimed that he is only a backup option for the Gunners if they miss out on West Ham’s Declan Rice. However, Seaman believes Mikel Arteta’s side should be trying to sign the player regardless:

“I think he’s a bit better than backup plans, if I’m honest. Neves is a good player. I would take him as well, because he’s a quality player. There’s no doubt about that.”

Wolves are said to have made Neves available for £45m, which is still quite a high figure, considering his contract situation, so that may be why Arsenal have been put off.

On top of that, reports in the Spanish media have suggested that the 26-year-old favours a move to Barcelona anyway, and he was waiting for the Catalan club to table a bid.

Other teams, including Manchester United, have also been credited with an interest in Neves, but it appears he is keen on leaving the Premier League.

What other midfielders are Arsenal targeting?

In addition to Rice and Neves, the likes of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo are believed to be on the Gunners’ shortlist.

The former has a €60m (£52m) release clause but he is reluctant to leave Spain, while the latter could cost nearly as much as Rice.
