David Ornstein Provides New Update On Mikel Arteta’s Future At Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta still has the complete backing of the board despite a poor recent run of form, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

The reliable former BBC reporter says the Gunners currently have no intention to dispense with the Spaniard’s services as they are keen to ensure they give the young coach enough time to make his mark at the club:

“There will, of course, be some pressure building on Mikel Arteta externally but internally I think he has total backing and Arsenal will want to give it time. They won’t want to become a club that chops and changes managers.”

Arteta has been at the club nearly a year, and he has already won the FA Cup and Community Shield during his time in charge. However, three consecutive home defeats in the league have led some to question the progress being made.

Goals have, in particular, been hard to come by with just two being scored in the last six Premier League fixtures. The lack of creativity is a key issue which will need to be addressed if Arsenal are to improve upon their recent poor results.
