Crystal Palace Reportedly Preparing £10m January Offer For Arsenal Ace

Crystal Palace are lining up a January bid for Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck, according to the Sun.

The 27-year-old has yet to sign a new deal with his current contract expiring at the end of the season, and Roy Hodgson is said to be keen on recruiting the forward.

The Eagles boss called Welbeck up regularly when he was England manager, giving him 25 caps during his spell in charge of the national team.

Now it appears he wants the striker to strengthen his forward line for the second half of the season. Palace have struggled for goals so far this campaign, scoring just eight in 11 league games.

Despite not being a regular starter under manager Unai Emery, Welbeck has still racked up five goals in 11 appearances; the sort of numbers from a striker Palace are desperately seeking.

Christian Benteke has not scored this campaign and is out injured with a knee problem until the New Year, while summer signing Jordan Ayew has yet to score.

The only forward who has gotten on the scoresheet this season is Alexander Sorloth, who scored in a Carabao Cup match against Swansea back in August.

It is believed that Palace are lining up a £10m offer for Welbeck; a figure which will surely be tempting for the Gunners with the player in the last six months of his contract.
