Coventry manager Mark Robins says he would love to take Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah on loan once the transfer window re-opens.

The 19-year-old scored after coming on as a substitute in Arsenal Under 21s 3-0 win over the Sky Blues in the Checkatrade Trophy on Wednesday night, and the League One boss was impressed by what he saw:

“They had the option to bring on Eddie Nketiah who you can see has outstanding movement and ability, and he’s one that you would not hesitate to take.”

“He’s a really good, talented footballer and a lot them are players who you would say you’d be interested in if they became available!”

Nketiah made his name in a Gunners shirt by scoring two vital goals for the senior side in the 2-1 win over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup last season.

However, he has yet to be called upon by Unai Emery for more first-team games this campaign. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Danny Welbeck ahead of him in the pecking order at the Emirates, he will have a hard time making a breakthrough.

Still, the teenager is one of the club’s brightest talents and he could perhaps benefit from a temporary move away to continue his development.
