Could Van Persie’s Words Finally Wake Wenger Up?

Could Van Persie’s Words Finally Wake Wenger Up?

Gunners’ fans are not the only ones who feel the need to express their disappointment when it comes to Arsenal’s 8 year losing streak. After recent rumors having emerged saying that players such as Jovetic are not keen on signing with a team that hasn’t won anything in quite a while, ex Arsenal striker, Robin van Persie came out and talked about his experience with the Emirates team. The 29 year old said that although he experienced some amazing moments with the North London team, the agony felt because of the lack of success was greater than his love for Arsenal.

The Dutchman, who was one of the Gunners’ most prolific players, also said that his performance in his last years with Arsenal was influenced by the feeling that he was missing out on all the glory. Having a great staff and amazing colleagues is not enough to keep you motivated. Van Persie also stated that it was time for him to move on especially because of his age. He also spoke about his excitement when looking towards the end of the season.

The ex-Arsenal player, who has managed to score 23 times since going to Old Trafford, says that his excellent form reflects the fact that his current team provides players with goals that can actually be achieved. The fact that he transferred to a rival team is not that big of a deal according to Van Persie who is pretty much at peace with his career choices. He said that he made the right move at the right time and that things happened just as planned.

The Dutchman spoke highly of Arsenal who clearly still has a place in his heart. In his 8 year period spent playing for the Gunners he managed to score 96 goals in 194 matches. He even became team captain after Fabregas left to join Barcelona, but the fact that he felt he was missing out on all the glory was too big of an issue to ignore.
