Could Fabregas Really Prefer United Over Arsenal?

Cesc Fabregas has reportedly told sources that he would prefer a move to Manchester United over Arsenal’s first-buy option, if Barcelona were to accept an offer for the Spanish international midfielder.

The saga over Fabregas’ future has kicked off yet again, with United reportedly showing concrete interest in the midfielder. Arsenal were then linked with a move, when reports revealed that the player’s contract at the Catalan club had a clause which gave the Gunners an option to buy the midfielder for a fee of £25 million before any other club. Arsene Wenger would delighted at the opportunity of having his former skipper back at the club, but it seems Fabregas would prefer a move to Old Trafford and turn down a second stint at the Emirates Stadium

Wenger has had a great deal of influence on Fabregas’ career, and the Frenchman has said that he will not shy away of spending big, if players were available. Fabregas was subject to a lot of criticism when he left Arsenal in 2011 after Barcelona came calling. United are setting a trend of signing the best players from their rivals, and have already signed former Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie, and Fabregas playing for the Red Devils next season would be a tough pill to swallow for the Gunners faithful. United’s reported bid comes on the back of losing Thiago Alcantara to Bayern Munich.

As reported in The Sun, Fabregas would seemingly quite lke the opportunity to move to United, this comes as excellent news for United, as David Moyes takes charge of proceedings after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement. Moyes will have an experienced Barclays Premier League star in Fabregas, and will have enough options in midfield. With the excellent form of Michael Carrick, Fabregas’ arrival will relieve some of the pressure off the England international’s shoulders. Also, Fabregas will be reunited with van Persie, a partnership which tormented defences during the last time the duo played.

Arsenal do have the first-buy option, but will not want to sign a player who does not prefer a move to the club. Only time will tell whether United’s bid is accepted by the Catalan giants or not.
