Could Arsenal Fan Benteke Move To The Emirates Next Summer?

Arsenal are apparently targeting yet another young player to strengthen their squad. According to recent news The Gunners are keen on signing Christian Benteke, a Belgian international currently scoring goals for Aston Villa. The 22 year old striker has been on Wenger’s list since he came to play in the Premier League. Former Genk player, Benteke has been playing for The Villans since the beginning of this season and has managed an impressive 15 goals in 28 appearances. He was brought in for £7 million, making him look like he was the bargain of the year and a great investment. Although Aston Villa are now struggling to avoid the relegation zone and maximum concentration is needed, Benteke may have had his head turned by the Gunners.

The pieces of information that suggest Arsenal’s interest in the Belgian striker also include rumors that Tottenham seem just as keen on bringing Benteke to play for them. It is not the first time The Gunners and the Spurs are scouting the same player. They apparently have pretty similar ideas as far as transfer policies go.

As far as Benteke and his transfer go, Tottenham are not really in the race for getting his signature. The Belgian declared his love for Arsenal since he came to the Premier League. It is a dream of his to end up collaborating with Wenger, who is according to his statements one of his favorite managers. The fact that Thierry Henry was Arsenal’s player is another important factor in the Belgians’ decision who stated he tried as much as possible to borrow the French strikers playing style.

Benteke came to Aston Villa without even knowing that the club is based in Birmingham. A short time after signing his contract he declared he thought he was coming to London. He also said that although his love for Arsenal and Thierry Henry are infinite, Aston Villa is the right place for him at this particular moment in his career.

Although Arsenal have the least problems in their offensive department, it seems Wenger still wants someone who can challenge Giroud’s first team presence as far as strikers go. The problem with finalizing the transfer may involve some financial issues though, because boss Paul Lambert wants to triple his summer investment. Knowing that Wenger has always been more than calculated when it comes to bringing in expensive players, negotiations will be tough. Hopefully the Gunners will be able to sign this young player who is having an amazing first Premier League season and he certainly seems to have a great future in front of him.
