‘Contacted His Agent…’ Report Claims Arsenal Tried And Failed To Lure 52M Rated Serie A Ace To England This Summer

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has knocked back interest from Arsenal over the past month, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claims that the Gunners “contacted his agent”, along with Tottenham and Atletico Madrid, recently but the Argentinian international made it clear that he “did not want to leave” the Nerazzurri this summer.

At the end of last season, it was reported that Inter may consider letting Martinez go for around €60m (£52m) in order to balance the books. However, it appears the player’s stance has made any negotiation for his sale difficult.

Calciomercato believe that interested teams are likely to revisit the situation in a year’s time, but for the time being the 24-year-old will be staying put at the San Siro.

It’s more than likely that Arsenal won’t be among those looking to revive their interest, with the club having already decided to secure the services of Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus instead.
