Club Turned Down Arsenal’s 61.7M Bid For Brazilian International

Arsenal had a €70m (£61.7m) offer rejected for Barcelona winger Raphinha during the January transfer window, according to Sport.

The Brazilian was a target for the Gunners in the summer but the player opted to make the move to the Camp Nou instead.

Even so, it appears Mikel Arteta’s side did make a second attempt to secure Raphinha’s signature last month, most likely after they lost out to Chelsea for Mykhailo Mudryk.

Sport report that the proposal made was an attractive one for Barca, who could have used the money to balance the books, but they opted to keep the 26-year-old as they believe he still has room to develop in the future.

As we all know, Arsenal eventually landed Leandro Trossard from Brighton, who cost a great deal less than Raphinha, but it is still interesting to hear that the London club were prepared to make a sizeable offer to bring the former Leeds star back to the Premier League.
