Club Have ‘Received Offers’ From Arsenal For ‘New Haaland’ But Barcelona Could Scupper Deal

Gent forward Jonathan David has “received offers” from Arsenal, Bayern Munich and PSV Eindhoven but he is favouring a move to Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan publication, who have already dubbed the Canadian, the “new Haaland,” report that the striker’s preference is a switch to the Camp Nou after being a fan of Ronaldinho growing up.

David has been in superb form for Gent this season, having scored 23 goals and provided 10 assists in 40 appearances.

Previously a number 10, the 20-year-old has moved further forward in recent months and he has become a lethal finisher both at club and international level.

Arsenal were first linked with David last month, but his performances have attracted interest right across Europe. However, Mundo Deportivo say that the impact of global health crisis could drive down the forward’s asking price, despite the player being in high demand.

The Canadian international was valued at around €25m (£22m) but it is believed Gent may be prepared to do a deal for just €15m (£13m).
