Former Premier League midfielder Charlie Adam has said that Arsenal need more players if they are to challenge for the league title.
The Gunners currently sit second in the table, just six points behind Arne Slot’s Liverpool. However, the Reds also have a game in hand, which they play next week.
Mikel Arteta’s side come off a 3-0 win against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, which all but saw them through to the Round of 16 of the competition.
They now face a trip to Wolves at the weekend, with the hope of closing the gap to Liverpool, who play against Ipswich Town.
Former Premier League midfielder Charlie Adam said that the Gunners’ squad needs more if they are to win the title this year. He told Best Betting Sites: “Mikel‘s a fantastic manager. I love watching his teams. I love watching how he sets his team up and plays, but I think they’re just maybe a couple of players short to really go and challenge for the title.
“That’s the question for the Arsenal hierarchy and for Mikel to find the solutions, to get the players. There is a difficult window to get the top players to be the difference from now to the end of the season.
“You have to be cute in this market and if they can bring some bodies in, which I think it looks like they are going to, then obviously it will freshen up and give everybody else a lift.”
Arsenal working to bring in much-needed striker
The storyline of the transfer window for Arsenal has been whether they will sign a striker or not, especially since Gabriel Jesus’ ACL injury, which could see him miss the remainder of the season.
They have been heavily linked to Wolves star Matheus Cunha, alongside Nottingham Forest. But Saturday’s opponents put an £80m price tag on him.
Furthermore, they aren’t able to loan in anyone from the Premier League, as they would then have to terminate the loan of either Raheem Sterling or goalkeeper Neto.
