Charles Watts Lists The TWO Conditions That Could See Youri Tielemans Joining Arsenal

Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans is a target for Arsenal, according to Goal‘s Gunners correspondent Charles Watts.

It is believed that the London club have held talks with the Belgian international’s representatives in recent weeks to discuss the possibility of a switch to the Emirates.

Tielemans has eighteen months left on his contract at the King Power Stadium, and he is unlikely to sign a new deal with the Foxes, meaning he could be sold in the near future.

However, Watts claims that the 24-year-old will not be sold this month and Arsenal would have to wait until the end of the season if they want to secure the player’s signature. That could be an issue considering the Gunners are already short of numbers in the middle of the park. One solution could be to find a short-term loan (like Juventus’s Arthur) in order to tide them over until the summer.

The other pre-condition is related to Arsenal’s performances on the pitch. It is thought that Tielemans is much more likely to be interested if the club qualifies for the Champions League. The Gunners are in the mix for fourth place but they will have to fight off the likes of West Ham, Tottenham and Manchester United to seal a spot in Europe’s top competition.
