Charles Watts Claims “Price Tag” May End Arsenal’s Pursuit Of “Talented” Star With 8 Goals And 8 Assists This Season

Shakhtar Donetsk’s valuation of Mykhaylo Mudryk may put off Arsenal from making a bid for the Ukrainian international in January, according to Goal’s Charles Watts.

The journalist, who is usually pretty reliable when it comes to the Gunners, claims the decision to slap a €100m (£87.5m) asking price on the player could end any interest from the London club:

“The Shakhtar director of football, Darijo Srna, spoke to The Athletic about Mudryk and the interest in him, and there is plenty of it. He talked about Arsenal, Newcastle, PSG, Manchester City – clubs like that in for Mudryk, who’s clearly a talented player, so you know the best clubs in Europe are going to be looking at him. But he’s put a bit of a price tag on Mudryk. For me, I just can’t imagine Arsenal will go anywhere near this sort of price tag.”

Mudryk has already spoken out to say he is “shocked” by the price tag that Shakhtar have placed on him, but it is likely to be a starting point for any negotiation.

Fabrizio Romano has already said that the Ukrainian side won’t accept an offer below €65m (£57m) so that suggests that there is room for manoeuvre on the fee.

Mudryk has been in impressive form this campaign, having scored eight goals and contributed eight assists in 16 appearances, but Arsenal will have to decide whether he is worth the sizeable outlay.
