Cech Wants Arsenal Move

Cech Wants Arsenal Move

Accoring to Sky Sports News, Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has met with Chelsea officials to discuss his desire to leave the club.

It is apparent that Cech would like to join Arsenal in order to receive more game time and above all, stay in London. However, Chelsea are apparently reluctant to allow Cech to leave for a rival club and have insisted that if he is to make a move it is to a club outside of the Premier League. PSG are interested and Chelsea would prefer to sell to the French champions for a fee of around £11m.

It has also been reported that Chelsea would look to swap Cech for cash + a homegrown player, if he is to join Arsenal. It is unknown which player Chelsea are interested in.

The 33-year-old has been at Chelsea for 11 seasons and has a year left on his contract. The four-time Premier League winner has made over 500 appearances for Chelsea since joining in the summer of 2004 from Rennes for £7m. He has since made his name as one of the best keepers the Premier League has ever seen. If he is to leave, it is thought that he would rather remain in London, where his family is settled. Sky Sports claim the keeper returned to London to meet Chelsea with his representatives after playing in the Czech Republic’s 2-1 defeat in their European Qualifier against Iceland in order to discuss his future.

Petr Cech’s desire to leave comes because of his lack of game time and his clear dropping in the contention for Chelsea’s number 1 spot. The legend spent last season playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois and appeared just 7 times in the league.
