Cech provides update on Arsenal future amidst rumours of summer exit

Petr Cech insists he remains focused on life with Arsenal despite rumours he could leave the club this summer.

The Gunners completed the signing of £25 million Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer, with the German widely expected to take the number one jersey from Cech.

And following Leno’s arrival, Cech was linked with a host of Premier League clubs, including former side Chelsea, with reports suggesting the Arsenal shot-stopper would leave the The Emirates for more regular football.

However the 36-year-old says he still wants to fight for his place in Unai Emery’s side next year.

“I have a contract with Arsenal,” said Cech, “I am concentrating on this season, on the competition between the goalkeepers because we have plenty of options.

“I’m doing my best to show to the manager that I can be in the starting lineup when the season starts.

“That’s my aim and as for the speculation, I don’t really follow it.”

Cehc joined Arsenal in a £10 million deal from London rivals Chelsea in 2015, and has since made 177 appearances in three seasons for the Gunners.
