Cavani’s Fallout With Blanc Puts Arsenal In Alert

There are some tough decisions to be made ahead as Wenger prepares for a very interesting summer. Arsenal are definitely in need of players as they continue to get close to important trophies but fail to deliver mostly because of the thin lot or because of the injury nightmare that is at the Emirates. To be fair, things have improved in terms of performance over the past two years in which the Gunners ended the trophy drought and stepped up their game considerably.

One of the reasons for stepping up their game is Wenger’s decision to spend big. Bringing in Welbeck, Sanchez, Ozil and Debuchy had a major impact on the team’s playing style. Ironically things are becoming more difficult now at the club, as management has to decide if spending a lot of money will translate into performance.

The latest example, according to Squawka is probably Edinson Cavani who is ready to leave PSG. The Uruguayan is seen as one of the best strikers in the world and would probably help Arsenal a lot. The question is: would he help out the team more than a defensive midfielder, a left winger and one or two defenders? The money spent on Cavani would cover at least two of those transfers which could prove crucial for next season.

The fact that Giroud and Welbeck are doing a great job also comes to mind and makes fans probably wonder if Wenger really needs to spend £40m on a striker. On the other hand, before Sanchez was signed, Walcott was also doing a great job and was seen as very hard to replace. Then the Chilean came and turned things up a notch by holding the team on his shoulders for several games in a row – would Cavani do the same?
