Bundesliga Sensation Has Caught Wenger’s Eye

It has become a clear thing that Arsenal are going to make some serious investments when the summer transfer period begins. With this season being almost a complete bust, the Gunners are finally going to start acting like the great team they are and bring in some serious outside help in the form of some of Europe’s most sought after players. After their unfortunate encounter with Bayern Munich, Wenger seems determined to start scouting early and find some promising targets that can help Arsenal find their way back to glory. More and more rumors are emerging with each day and it seems that the Frenchmen is looking into some really interesting players.

After signing Monreal during the winter transfer window, Arsenal are looking to strengthen their midfield by signing someone who can successfully replace Alex Song, who was a key player for the Gunners last season. There is one solution that might come from Germany. According to recent reports Wenger is interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt’s defensive midfielder, Sebastian Rode.

Arsenal have lacked power and the midfield metal in many games this season having a rough time defending themselves against teams such as Bayern. This transfer would fill the void left by Song and should help the Gunners’ defensive line do a better job against their adversaries in this department.

Rode is a 22 year old defensive midfielder who is having an impressive season with his team and Arsenal are not the only ones that have noticed the young U21 international. With 55 appearances in 3 years for his team, Bundesliga greats such as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have also shown interest in Frankfurt’s player. It is going to be a tough battle for the Gunners, especially considering the fact that Bayern are looking to make some serious investments with Guardiola’s arrival at the end of this season. Even if Arsenal are one of the most financially stable clubs in the world, it is too early to tell how they will stack up against other teams that are known for spending big money on players.

One thing is for sure, Rode will leave Frankfurt this summer. He refused to extend his contract and has only 16 months left out of his initial agreement. He will definitely look to join a stronger team and the Premier League seems to be his first choice. All Arsenal have to do now is convince him that they are the team for him and that he should sign a deal. Money should clearly not be a problem, it is about whether Rode is better than the options the Gunners currently have in his proposed role in the team.
