Bayer Leverkusen have ended their pursuit of Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin, according to FussballTransfers.com. The German website claims the Bundesliga club were interested in the Spanish defender but they couldn’t meet the player’s salary demands.
Paris Saint-Germain reportedly tabled a £30m bid for the 25-year-old last week, while the likes of Juventus and Bayern Munich are also believed to be interested in the fullback.
The Gunners are looking for ways to raise funds for other potential transfers and, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ move to Wolves having stalled, it looks as though another right-back could be heading out of the door instead.
Bellerin is thought to be open to a new challenge, although he won’t be looking to force his departure. Leverkusen would have had the money to sign the defender, after selling Kai Havertz to Chelsea, but they are now said to be looking at other potential alternatives in the Premier League, including Tottenham’s Serge Aurier, Everton’s Djibril Sidibe and Norwich’s Max Aarons.
