Berne Leno’s Escape Route To Italy Ruled Out With Ex Arsenal Target Now The Priority

Inter Milan are not interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno as they have another solution in mind, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Serie A champions have been linked with the German international in recent weeks, with the player himself even speaking publicly about a potential switch to the Nerazzurri.

However, Inter are believed to have made Ajax’s Andre Onana their number one priority. The Cameroon international was on Arsenal’s radar last summer before they signed Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United,

Unlike Leno (whose current deal expires in 2023), Onana is available on a free transfer next summer so it appears the Italian side have gone with the cheaper option.

Leno has said that he wasn’t given an explanation why he was dropped but Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta contradicted those comments in a press conference last week, stating he did hold talks with the keeper before handing the number one jersey to Ramsdale.
