Bergkamp Eyeing Sensational Arsenal Return!

Bergkamp Eyeing Sensational Arsenal Return!

Arsenal made news when they managed to capture Dutchman, Dennis Bergkamp back in 1995 from Inter Milan. That move was the turning point in the glorious years which lay ahead for Arsenal, as Bergkamp’s signing was the gateway to more world class players arriving at Highbury.

The likes of Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry joined in the following years which formed a formidable team for the Gunners, the most prominent being the ‘Invincibles’ side which went through the entire season unbeaten in 2003-04. Bergkamp formed a fearsome partnership with Thierry Henry up front for Arsenal and was a nightmare for defenders. Apart from that year, Bergkamp won several medals and personal accolades during his time with the Gunners.

He retired with Arsenal in 2006 and his name was etched in the club’s forklore. He then returned to his boyhood club Ajax where he is currently an assistant coach. He has now revealed that he wishes to return to London in the near future. ESPNFC report him as saying, “The feeling Johan Cruyff has had for Barcelona, I have the same with Arsenal,”

“At Arsenal it was a good click. I always enjoyed it. I never had a bad day there. It is always on my mind. It is part of my ambition to come back at some stage.”

“I’ve spoken to or have heard about others [former Arsenal colleagues] who would also love to come back.”

“Steve Bould is there now which is excellent. I’ve spoken to Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry would love to come back to Arsenal one day. Tony [Adams] is a big option as well.”

With Bergkamp looking for a sensational return to the club where he played the majority of his football and which gave him his legendary status, how do you see him fitting into the Arsenal coaching setup? Would he help to better the likes of Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott and assist them to become more lethal in front of goal?
