Berbatov, Hernandez On The Radar Of Wenger

Arsenal have a lack of depth up front, and they are currently in desperate need of some firepower as both orthodox strikers Olivier Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner are injured. Wenger has the option of deploying Lukas Podolski, who has just returned after four months from an injury, as the lone forward but would like to add more cover in that department.

Metro is reporting that the Gunners manager has targeted Berbatov and Hernandez to solve his striking problems. Giroud has failed to replicate his early season form since the last couple of months whereas Bendtner is tipped to leave the Emirates within the next six months.

Berbatov is out of contract at the end of the season and has already expressed his desire to move from struggling Fulham. The Cottagers have reluctantly agreed to listen to a bid rather than losing the Bulgarian for free in the summer.

Hernandez represents a more attractive option for Wenger with the Manchester United man struggling for game time despite boasting a healthy scoring rate at Old Trafford. With the World Cup looming, the Mexican will be desperate for regular game time.

The report suggests that Arsenal are ready to offer around £15 million for the 25-year-old although United will be hesistant to sell to a title rival.
