The Frenchman has been a transfer target for Arsene Wenger for the past few seasons but he has been unable to convince the forward to join the Gunners. Benzema was considered to be on the move this summer with Madrid interested in signing either of Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero from the Premier League.

However, Benzema has distanced himself from a move away from the Spanish capital, according to the Daily Mail. The news will come as a major setback for Wenger who wants fresh attacking additions to his squad for next season.

The forward, who is part of France’s 23 man squad for the World Cup, revealed he is happy at Madrid and is not looking to push for a summer transfer.

He said, “I feel at home in Madrid. I am really at ease. Playing at Real Madrid is a joy and fills me with pride because it is the greatest club in the world and also because I have come through some difficult moments in my five years here.”
