Bendtner Targeted By Palace And West Brom

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner’s future remains uncertain as the Barclays Premier League enters its third round of fixtures this weekend, and according to a report in the Daily Mail, league newcomers Crystal Palace have enquired about the possibility of signing the Dane, with West Bromwich Albion the competitors for the unsettled striker.

Arsene Wenger dealt with heavy criticism from many sections of supporters for not being active so far in the summer’s transfer market. However, since the opening day defeat in the hands of Aston Villa at home, the squad have stuck together and won all their following games which included a convincing away win against Turkish giants Fenerbache in the UEFA Champions League playoff round. The second win came against London rivals Fulham, at Craven Cottage, when Lukas Podolski showcased his talent, scoring a brace where both goals required precision and skill. The German international has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium but he is now sidelined with a hamstring injury which looks serious and will keep him out for 10 weeks or more.

Bendtner really looks to have no future at Arsenal. The Dane has been inconsistent throughout his time at the club, and despite two loan spells at Sunderland and Juventus, the striker has not struck good form. Bendtner is another player who emerged from the Arsenal youth academy, and with his height, pace and shot power, had it all to progress as a first team player. However, his height proved to be a stumbling block, as it gave the player a laid back approach, and could not improve his work rate with his sheer physicality. Even though Bendtner scored multiple times for the first team, the supporters did not appreciate the lack of effort from the Dane, and wanted him replaced with a new striker.

For Bendtner, Palace would see him join his former team mate Marouane Chamakh, who had similar consistency problems at Arsenal. With West Brom also interested, it seems the Dane will soon leave the club.
