Bendtner Insists On Staying

Nicklas Bendtner missed out on a great opportunity to prove himself during the match Arsenal lost at home against Chelsea. The Danish striker who started for the Gunners after almost 1000 minutes of absence, had an awful night. The only thing that could have made things worse was if he scored an own goal. In his 67 minutes spent on the pitch, Arsenal’s striker had no attempts on goal, no decisive passes and no noticeable moments. Things would not be that bad for him if his attitude off the field would be humble and would show dedication to the club. Instead, Bendtner is arrogant rather focused on his image rather than his performance.

If it weren’t for Wenger, the 25 year old would have been long gone. The fact that Arsenal need a second striker to match Giroud’s profile is also a reason for Bendtner’s continuing collaboration with the Emirates Team. He was seen as a promising player but he has never delivered. He returned to play for the Gunners after a 2 year loan period in which he managed 8 goals for Sunderland and that is about it. It is still a bit hard to understand why Wenger puts so much trust in this particular player.

Bendtner would have been better off signing with Crystal Palace. Unfortunately for him the teams failed to reach an agreement before the deadline. He is clearly better suited for a lower level club. He proved that by scoring his only goals for Sunderland. Juventus was too big of a name for him just as Arsenal seems to be.

According to Metro, Bendtner will not get any other chance to start after Arsenal failed to qualify for the Capital One Cup quarter finals. It was the only competition in which Wenger could use players that are not in his usual starting eleven. The Premier League and the Champions League are two important to handle with players like Bendtner who even though insists he will be more determined with each match, looks closer to a definite transfer than ever before.
