Bayern Looking To Grab Draxler Ahead Of Arsenal

Julian Draxler is supposed to be Arsenal’s big summer transfer in the next off-season according to just about every news source out there. Despite failing to secure the youngster’s signature over the past few months, Wenger seems confident an agreement will be reached as soon as the season ends if most reports are to be believed.

The Gunners had the necessary funds to sign the 20 year old midfielder but were not keen on meeting Draxler’s £37 million release clause. The Emirates club allegedly offered Schalke just short of £30 million right before the January transfer window closed, only to be rejected by the German side who really hope they can get as much as £40 million for their most valuable player.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, it seems that money was not the only issue that came between Draxler and the Gunners. According to The Sun, Bayern Munich, who just defeated Arsenal in the first length of the first elimination round, may be the ones blocking Draxler’s move to North London.

It appears that Bayern officials are already beginning the negotiation process. The German international who has already made 90 appearances for Schalke and has featured in Germany’s national team 10 times, is open to change. His current team is also willing to part ways with Draxler after telling his agent the player is free to go as long as his release clause is met.

When asked about rumors concerning the young midfielder’s transfer to Munich, Bayern’s chairman was quick to deny the possibility of a summer move. Hopefully his comments were not just a way to keep the press away. Battling Bayern Munich for Draxler’s signature is not something Arsenal would want.
