Now a mainstay of the defence under Arteta, he can now make the right-sided centre-back position his own with both Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis having left the club before the transfer window closed.
With David Luiz also suspended, it means Holding is only competing with two left-footed centre-halves (Gabriel and Pablo Mari) currently, which suggests he’s almost guaranteed to start at Villa Park.
