Aubameyang Sets His Sights On Europa League Final With Arsenal

Arsenal got off to a winning start in the Europa League last night with a 4-2 home victory against Vorskla Poltava.

Speaking after scoring a brace in the match for the Gunners, striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said he is hoping to go on and win the competition with the London club this season:

“I didn’t play the Europa League last year with the guys so I am really happy to be back in this competition. We want to go to the final of course.”

“I hope we can do well in the next few games. We know the Premier League is long. We have to win these games straight away and perform quickly. It is good to start with a win.”

Aubameyang has gotten off to a relatively slow start with his goal return in the league this season. The 29-year-old has scored just once in five matches and his double yesterday would have helped boost his confidence.

Arsenal face Everton at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon in their next league encounter. The Toffees suffered their first defeat of the season with a surprise 3-1 home loss to West Ham last weekend.

Neither team have been especially good defensively. Both clubs have conceded nine goals so far this campaign and have failed to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League.
