Aubameyang nets screamer to usher in Unai Emery’s reign at Arsenal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hit an absolute screamer earlier today to score the first goal of Unai Emery’s reign at Arsenal.

The Gabon star, who hit 10 goals in 13 appearances for the Gunners last season, scored a 17-minute hat-trick as Emery’s side thrashed Boreham Wood 8-0 in their first game of pre-season.

And the 29-year-old’s first was a thing of beauty.

Picking the ball up on the very far left corner of the Boreham penalty area, Aubameyang looked up, touched the ball neatly to the side before bending home a superb effort into the top right corner to wow the crowd at a sun-drenched Meadow Park.

Aubameyang added his second with a calm header only two minutes, before he completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot with less than 20 minutes played.

Reiss Nelson added a fourth with a stunning volley, and Aubameyang turned provider for Arsenal’s fifth – setting free strike partner Alexandre Lacazette who slotted home into the bottom corner to open his account for the summer.

Eddie Nketiah made it six just after half-time, before Jeff Reine-Adelaide and substitute Henrikh Mkhitaryan completed the scoring to cap off a successful afternoon for Unai Emery and his side.
