Aubameyang Makes Bold Claim About Arsenal’s New Attacking Trio

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang believes the Gunners could have an attacking threat that can match Liverpool’s highly vaunted front three.

Nicolas Pepe was signed from Lille for £72m this summer but the Ivorian has yet to start alongside Alexandre Lacazette and the Gabon international. When asked if the trio have the talent to match their Reds’ counterparts, Aubameyang replied:

“As we’ve seen from last season, Liverpool play with three up front and they play very well. Why not us? I think we can do it. t will be a tough game against them. They are great players. They always try to go forward and try to get goals and assist each other. They are one of the best trios in the world.”

“I see a lot of similarities. Pepe and me, we are quick players like Mane and Salah, while Laca is a player who can keep the ball and is really good with his feet like Firmino. So yes, we can say we are close enough.”

Stylistically, there are certainly similarities. Pepe likes to cut in onto his left foot from the right-hand side like Mohamed Salah, while Aubameyang can offer a similar threat from the opposite flank like Sadio Mane.

Lacazette and Roberto Firmino are probably the most different with the Brazilian looking to come deep for the ball, but both do like to link up play, although the Arsenal ace is clearly a better finisher.

With both attacking trios expected to feature at Anfield tomorrow evening, we could see fireworks as both attacks look to put their opponents to the sword.
