Atletico Madrid Forward Tipped For Premier League Move

Spanish international, Adrian Lopez joined Atletico in the summer of 2011 and impressed in his debut campaign, scoring 19 goals in all competitions for the Spanish outfit. He also helped Atletico win the Europa League last season, scoring 11 goals in 19 appearances.

However, his form has fallen away as of late, with Madrid needing to rely upon the prolific Falcao to score the goals. In fact, the 25-year-old has scored just 4 goals in all competitions in the entire season.

He has managed no goals in Europe this season, which is a remarkable downturn in form, considering he scored 11 last season. The third-placed La Liga team have already been eliminated by Rubin Kazan in the Europa League and their only chance of silverware this season is the Copa Del Rey, with the final due to be played against arch-rivals Real Madrid next month.

Atletico have been frustrated with Lopez’s lack of form, and according to talkSPORT, they are ready to listen to offers for their striker. They are likely to put up a fight to retain the services of their prized asset Radamel Falcao, but are reportedly trying to offload Lopez in the summer.

There has been considerable interest shown by London rivals Arsenal and Spurs, with both clubs trying to sign the Spanish striker last summer. And the report states that the duo are set to renew their interest in him.

Both clubs want to increase competition for places in the striking department, having had to rely on their midfield to bang in the goals. This is especially true for Spurs, with star winger Bale having outscored strikers Defoe and Adebayor combined.

However, it looks like a bidding war could be on the cards, with Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton joining the fray to bring the front-man to England. Jelavic has misfired for the Toffees this season and Rodgers wants to bolster his attacking threats, and both clubs view Lopez as an ideal candidate.

If Atletico do indeed sell, which club do you think will Lopez choose between the London and Merseyside pair?
