Arteta: We Threw Away Everything

Mikel Arteta vented his frustration by suggesting Arsenal threw away everything when they gave up a comprehensive three-goal lead in their latest competitive fixture against Anderlecht at the Emirates Stadium, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners have faced a frustrating first quarter of the season in many aspects and Arsene Wenger is not happy at the way his team are weakening in defence. The London based club led the Belgian side in the Champions League by three goals before conceding three to let the opposition tie the game. This result has meant Borussia Dortmund, who won their fixture against Galatasaray, will almost certainly top group D in the competition, while Arsenals chances of going through still look ok despite a game against Dortmund coming up in the next round of fixtures. A slip up against the Germans could give Anderlecht a very slim way back into contention for the 2nd and final spot for qualification, while the team finishing 3rd will be sent to the Europa League. Naturally, Wenger will have expressed his disappointment about the result to hopefully ensure a stronger performance in the days and weeks to come in all competitions.

This was a chance for Arteta to return to the Champions League after spending a considerable time on the treatment table. To the dismay of Arsenal fans, the Spaniard picked up another injury in the game which will see him miss the Barclays Premier League fixture against Swansea City on Sunday.
