Arteta Set On Completing His Arsenal Deal Which Expires Next Summer

Despite rumors linking Arteta to several clubs including Fiorentina, his agent insisted that the 32 year old is going to continue playing for Wenger for at least one more year. According to the Daily Mail, the Spaniard whose contract will expire a year from now is going to face tough competition for next season as Khedira seems close to coming to the Emirates. The Gunners’ captain left Everton to join Wenger’s side back in 2011. Since then, he has made 94 appearances making Arsenal the second most important club of his career in terms of goals and time spent on the pitch.

Arteta had a great season managing to star in 31 Premier League games to help Arsenal finish fourth. The Spaniard was captain during Arsenal’s win against Hull which brought the Gunners their first trophy in almost a decade.

Given the fact that Arteta insists on staying despite not being offered a new contract, clearly points to the fact that he will continue playing for Arsenal. Wenger could not spare yet another player after having to deal with 11 departures this summer. Arteta is an important player for the Gunners but will probably become a substitute as Arsenal’s management seem to be pushing for Real Madrid’s Khedira who has a similar profile to that of the Spaniard. Arteta came in for £10 million and is currently valued at half that mostly due to his age which will allow him to play one or two years at most for a team such as Arsenal.
