Arteta Reveals He Will “Open The Door” For 27 Year Old Defender To Leave Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has suggested that Sead Kolasinac is unsettled in England. The 27-year-old is believed to be keen on moving back to Germany for family reasons, with Bayer Leverkusen leading the race for his signature.

However, the Gunners boss said they would not allow any player to leave on the cheap, no matter the circumstances, and they will only sell the defender for the right price:

“When it comes to a point where it’s obviously something that you cannot control and cannot help and it’s evident and clear, then you open the door. But then it goes down to the club to decide when and how and that’s a player with a contract that has to get the right value and go to the right club.”

Arteta did also confirm that Kolasinac’s departure is not imminent but it does seem like the German-born Bosnian international will be leaving the Emirates three years after joining from Schalke on a free transfer.

The left-back came off the bench to play the last ten minutes of the Community Shield victory against Liverpool but he was an unused substitute versus Fulham. The Gunners do have cover in his position, though, with the likes of Kieran Tierney, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Bukayo Saka all capable of playing on the left flank.
