Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is one of nine names being considered by Paris Saint-Germain as they consider potential replacements for Mauricio Pochettino, according to reports in the French media.
After PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid last week, Pochettino’s future has come under scrutiny. Along with claims that he is also a leading contender to become Manchester United’s next manager, the Argentinian is not expected to stay at the Parc des Princes beyond the summer.
Zinedine Zidane is among the favourites to replace Pochettino, but Arteta is said to be on a long shortlist of other options, which include Juventus’s Max Allegri, Spurs head coach Antonio Conte, Ajax’s Erik ten Hag, Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi, Nice boss Christophe Galtier, former Dortmund coach Lucien Favre and Spezia’s Thiago Motta.
Motta and Arteta are classed as outsiders but both of them have played for PSG in the past, and that connection may be why they are in the frame.
Whether Arteta would consider leaving Arsenal, it seems unlikely. There has been talk about a contract extension for the Spaniard in recent weeks so his commitment to the club looks clear.
