Arteta Has ‘Had A Conversation’ With 88.5M Rated Target As Five Year Contract Is Agreed

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has already “had a conversation” with Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk ahead of his prospective move to the Emirates, according to SportAnalytic.com.

The Ukrainian website reports that the Gunners head coach has talked to the 21-year-old about which position he would like to play him in if a transfer is finalised during the January transfer window.

It is believed that Arsenal have submitted a second improved offer for Mudryk worth up to €70m (£62m), including add-ons, but it still falls short of Shakhtar’s €100m (£88.5m) asking price.

The Ukrainian side are said to be keen to get at least €55m (£48.7m) upfront so it remains to be seen whether the two teams can find a compromise.

Reports in the English media have suggested that the Gunners and Mudryk have reached an agreement on personal terms, with a five-year contract having already been drawn up, but the transfer fee remains the sticking point.

Chelsea are thought to be waiting in the wings if negotiations stall but, at the moment, Mikel Arteta’s side are firm favourites to secure the player’s signature.
