Arteta Gives Massive Hint About Positional Change That Arsenal Fans Have Been Crying Out For

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he is seriously considering moving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang into a more central role following the club’s captain recent barren spell in front of goal.

The Gunners head coach has generally favoured playing his talisman on the left-hand side of a front three but, with the 31-year-old having failed to score in the league since the opening day of the season, Arteta is weighing up a possible change of position for the striker:

“Yes, that’s a very possible thing. It will depend on the games, it will depend on who he’s surrounded with. I think it’s very important to see who is around him and why we’re doing it. Not just the fact we’re doing it, why we’re doing that and what we’re going to get by doing these positive things. Of course, there’s a very strong possibility to play him as a [number] 9.”

Moving Aubameyang up front is something that Gunners supporters have been asking for since the start of the campaign. Neither Alexandre Lacazette nor Eddie Nketiah have convinced through the middle and it may be a good idea to move the team’s greatest goal threat into an area where he will have more opportunities to score.

Whether we’ll see him start there against Dundalk this evening, we shall have to wait and see, but it is something that fans should look out for in upcoming fixtures.
