Arteta Confirms Deal For 18 Year Old Will Be Announced “Very Shortly” As They See Off Liverpool And United

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta says he is now very confident that Bukayo Saka will sign a contract extension to remain at the Emirates.

The 18-year-old’s current deal with the Gunners expires at the end of next season, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund reportedly monitoring the situation. He is believed to be only earning £7,000 a week at the moment and he has been asking for a deserved pay rise.

However, Arteta says he now expects Saka to sign on the dotted line, hinting that an announcement will be made very soon:

“I am very positive that everything is going to be done with Bukayo very shortly. The communications between the club, the agents and the family have been going on for months and are very fluent.”

“But the player knows how much trust I have in him and every week he is showing his consistency level is getting better and better. I am so excited by the young players we have. They just need the right environment around them to explode.”

This will be a huge boost for Arsenal, with the teenager undoubtedly the standout performer for the club this season, having excelled both as a winger and as a left-back.

Arteta appears to have played a pivotal role in securing him for the long term and his coaching ability will hopefully help Saka develop his game over the coming years.
