Arteta Claims Two More Players Could Leave Arsenal Before The Transfer Window Closes

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed discussions are underway with Reiss Nelson and Shkodran Mustafi for the two Gunners stars to leave the club before the transfer window closes.

On Nelson, Arteta is hoping the 21-year-old can secure a loan move away from the Emirates so the winger can get more first-team football in the second half of the season:

“That’s a conversation that we are having with the players that are not having a lot of time. Obviously, we want to keep their development going and we will make decision in the next three days with some of them on what the best thing is to do.”

In Mustafi’s case, it appears that a permanent departure is on the cards. The German defender‘s contract expires in the summer but Arteta says talks are being held with the player about a possible exit before then:

“He’s another situation at the moment that is opening and we are having conversations internally with the player and agent. We will see what the right solution is for this one as well. We are monitoring the situation, I cannot say much more than that.”

Lazio are believed to be the team who are most keen on snapping up the centre-back this month. Whether there will be a transfer fee involved or if Arsenal will allow the player to leave on a free transfer, like they did with Sokratis and Mesut Ozil, we shall have to wait and see.
