Arsene Wenger wants Wilshere to remain at The Emirates next season

Arsene Wenger says he hopes Jack Wilshere will make the choice to remain at the club next season as talks over extending the midfielder’s contract continue to stall.

Wilshere spent last season on-loan with Bournemouth, however has re-established himself as a regular starter at The Emirates since his return in the summer.

The Englishman has made 30 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners this season, yet while he admits he is enjoying life back at his boyhood club, the 26-year-old is yet to commit his long-term future to the club.

An offer has been tabled by Arsenal that will see Wilshere extend his stay in North London for the foreseeable future, and manager Arsene Wenger says he hopes Wilshere will make the right choice and put pen to paper sooner rather than later.

“I don’t know,” Wenger responded when asked about Wilshere’s future, “but Jack will be free at the end of the season
“We make a proposal to him, I want him to stay and my desire is to see him linked to the club for the future. I hope he will do it.”
Wenger also stated his desire for Wilshere to make the cut for this summer’s World Cup.
The Englishman has been out of international action with England since 2016, but is now hotly tipped for a re-call from current Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate ahead of the World Cup in Russia.
“Yes, I wish he is in the England squad.” said Wenger.
“The vibes I get are positive. I believe he has a good chance to be in there, but we have to leave that to Gareth Southgate. I have enough to do with my job.”
