Arsene Wenger Fired From Part Time Job

Arsene Wenger has been fired by French local television channel TF1 after the company have decided not to renew the Arsenal manager’s contract after 10 years of association that included commentary on national matches and Champions League games, according to The Guardian.

Wenger was criticised on deadline day by Arsenal supporters as they expressed their frustration when the manager decided to leave London on deadline day and fly to Rome for a charity match. Arsenal are in desperate need of attacking players, and the club have managed to bring in Danny Welbeck from Manchester United for a £16 million fee. Injury troubles have again come back to haunt Wenger, who keeps building squad after squad, only to be broken down by longstanding injury worries. Star striker Olivier Giroud has been ruled out for a few months due to a knock in a recent game, and he joins Theo Walcott on the treatment table.

Clubs like Paris Saint Germain have been poaching Wenger over the last two seasons, but the manager has stuck with the club. The FA Cup win last season was a big positive in the club’s aim of growing again, and the Community Shield trophy was another milestone in Wenger’s spell at the club. However, the squad does not seem to have enough depth in the attacking third, and much depends on how Welbeck settles into life at his new club.
